101 Goals in 1001 Days

This page is dedicated to a project I started at the end of 2010. It’s fairly self-explanatory (set 101 goals to accomplish in 1001 days) but if you’d like to know more about the concept, Day Zero provides a great overview.

My Start Date: 12/15/2010

My Completion Date: 9/10/2013

Why I’m Sharing This With You:

I’m a firm believer in public accountability. When you share your goals and aspirations with others, you have additional motivation to follow through. Sure, it’s not always enough. But it helps. And I’ll take what I can get!

Plus, I figure it’ll be fun for you to watch as I cross things off my list. I’ll be updating this page on a regular basis.

WOW…………….what a great list. You have inspired me. I will make a list myself. You have reminded me of many things that have been on my mind for several years, and now i will make a list and see how many I can accomplish in the next 1001 days.
    Thank you!!!!

Hooray!! I’ve inspired one person! Now 9 more to go and I can cross one of my goals off the list :)

So glad to hear that you’re going to do it, Sue. Have fun and give yourself some time to get it just right. It took me a few days of serious thought…it’s harder than it looks!! Enjoy the process. Can’t wait to hear how it goes.

OK, I’m inspired, also, but don’t cross it off the list yet – 101 things is a lot and I’m not positive I can come up with that many. I’ll keep you posted. Great Idea!!!

I love this idea! I did a list similar to this when I was 21 and it didn’t turn out so great. I decided to start a list again and your list is very motivating. Some of the things on your list are similar to what I want to accomplish and there are things that I have already done. You have given me new hope. Now that I am 30, I’m going to start that list again. Thanks!

Very insipiring indeed. In fact, it reads much like mine would read like. If I can get over my procrasitnation tendencies and learn time management skills, perhaps there is hope for me yet! I AM gonna make my list right now, thanks!

Mmmm okay I have a more critical thought on this…this list also seems very much like my eternally unfinished to-do lists for myself. It’s great to have goals and all- and to strive to be a better-rounded person, as many of your goals reflect. But do you also have like 101 years to do this stuff? And are goals like always doing your dishes really realistic? What happened to prioritizing? What are you going to do first, and why?

    Hi Maya,
Good questions and interesting angle. Realistic? Absolutely. 1001 days is a long time. And the reason I set them as goals is to get them OFF my eternal to-do list. In terms of things like “always doing the dishes”…it’s not about doing them every single night. It’s about creating the habit. Once I feel it’s a habit, I count it done. Regarding the question of priorities, yes, this list can look a little overwhelming for someone on the outside looking in, but again, 1001 days is a long time. Because I review the list often, I am always taking baby steps to move toward achievement for a few items. It’s not a to-do list so you don’t see priorities here. On a daily and weekly basis, I figure out what’s most important. And, at the end of the day, this is an inspiration list. It keeps me excited about the big things I want to accomplish in the next three years. If you’re critical of that, fair enough. Don’t do a list of your own.

101 things in 1001 days re: ghost walk. I picked this one todo years ago with my children. when they were young and it expanded and flowered in many ways. we did a number of them including Fort Henry in Kingston and Fort George in Niagara-on-the-lake and as a Scout Leader I took my youth to many variations on the theme knowing what to expect from my kids love of it. we did ghostwalk sleepovers with all sections and their families and siblings and we did side tours with friends and family offshoots in Ottawa and even explored the Defenbunker and the Ottawa Jail with kids and family –a lot off untold unusual history lessons and life travelling experiences

pencil me in. I find your list very inspiring and I am intending to create a much more modest one for myself – I already have a long to-do list but looking at all items as goals gives it a better overview and it somehow seems much more organized. as you say, it takes some thinking to draft an achievable and realistic list. so, let me think:)
good luck with your goals and thanks for sharing this amazing idea with us!!

    Hi Chrissy,
Thanks for sharing your list; I think it’s a great idea, and though I’m only at 46 items in my list (it’s not that easy to complete!), you can definitely count me in ….am planning to finish it tonight.
    Thanks once again,

    Hello Chrissy
I am truly impressed by your list, looks like you put in a lot of effort in coming up with the list itself. I do want to join up but , I think I am going to start off with a smaller list kind of like baby steps, (hope that counts). I think I am going to go with 15 things in 60 days. How does that sound to you?
    Warm Regards

    Chrissy,
Thanks for the inspiration. I CAN DO THIS. I need to create my own list. I am always saying, “You know, I should…” Well, I’ll create my list, cross completed ones off so I can say, “I did…”
101 Goals in 1001 Days might seem daunting, but the point is…they are MY goals! It will be fun to see how many I can cross off my list and see what I can accomplish!!!
    Thanks for the inspiration,
    Debbie Mikolajczyk

    Hi Chrissy,
I was very motivated after our chat yesterday, and after looking at this list I’m a greater fan of you. I’m going to create my own list, with a lot of the items relating to the new business. I’m looking forward to the program with you, and hoping to create a long-term affiliation with you to continue to get the inspiration and guidance you’ve provided me so far.

    Hi Jo,
I think I’ve definitely passed the threshold for number 97. I should cross it off but I want people to keep feeling inspired to this themselves!

And yes, I’m including holidays. But the beauty of this is that you make up your own rules. Enjoy:)

    Chrissy,

Are you interested in bartering services? I could use some coaching and can offer you, for example, culinary arts info. &/or help you learn to cook that gourmet meal.
